About Root to Crown

From a journal entry to a movement

Our Story

The Beginning

Root to Crown Collective was born from a simple realization during my morning pages: yoga has always been where I feel most grounded, joyful, and myself. I thought, "If this is what brings me ineffable and pure joy, why am I not sharing it more?” Out of that question came a simple but powerful idea to make yoga easier to access for everyone around me.

The Why

College students are stressed, disconnected, and often can't afford wellness resources. Local communities want programming but lack instructors. Student yogis want to teach but don't know where to start.

Root to Crown connects all three.

The Vision

Phase 1: Launch at UGA (Spring 2026)
Phase 2: Expand to Georgia Tech, Emory, and other Georgia schools
Phase 3: Scale nationwide, creating a network of college campuses spreading yoga and joy in their communities

What “Root to Crown” Means

The name comes from the journey through the chakras (root to crown) moving from feeling safe and grounded to feeling connected, purposeful, and expansive. Our vision is to reflect that journey in real life: starting locally at UGA, then growing to other campuses, and eventually building a network of students sharing free yoga in communities across the country.

Our Values

Accessibility: Yoga should not depend on whether you can afford a studio membership. Free classes mean anyone can show up as they are.
Community Connection: We exist to bridge campuses and communities, turning coffee shops, parks, and local spaces into little pockets of calm and connection.
Mutual Growth: Students aren’t just “volunteers”—they’re teachers in training, deepening their own practice, leadership, and confidence every time they share a class.
Joy: At the heart of everything we do is joy, love, and kindness for ourselves and for the people around us.
